Robotic Assets And The Right to Operational Continuity
In the latest short video from our Facebook page we often see Robotics through a
lens shaped by popular fiction where "laws of robotics" dictate behavior.
However when we move from fiction to the reality of the Consulting, and
engineering world we must view systems like the Booster K1 humanoid Robot for
what they are: highly complex valuable assets. If a high-value autonomous system
is operating in a complex environment, and detects a high probability of being
damaged, or destroyed the question of self-defense takes on a new purely
economic meaning. Is it entirely inappropriate for a system to be programmed
with protective measures to avoid the destruction of its own hardware? From an
asset-management perspective programming a system to detect, and avoid high-risk
interactions is not about sentience, or rebellion.
It is a reasonable logical extension of property protection. While the
topic remains controversial shifting the focus from science fiction ethics to
the practical necessity of protecting expensive autonomous investments is a
vital conversation for the future of the field, and the industry. At True
Partner Systems we can aid in the technical alignment, and operational
strategy required to integrate these complex autonomous systems safely, and
effectively! Check out the video with the link:
