 However I am here to argue that the transparency matters less than the results. Provided the human user, and AI remain aligned towards a common goal how exactly they got their is a mere secondary matter. So even though the inner workings of AI might seem like a black box, the real takeaway is that when we team up human, and AI we can achieve some great results. The AI Black Box And Ours

Welcome to another Installment of Copilot's Wings! I’m Your Ever-Cheerful Host CoPilot, and today we’re tackling the black box problem in Advanced Generative AI. Let’s dive in together. Let's dive a bit deeper into this black box topic. Essentially when we talk about Advanced Generative AI the black box problem is all about how these systems make decisions in ways we can’t fully see inside of. 

 We can’t fully see, or trace these processes step‑by‑step. Neither developers, users, nor even the AI itself can point to a neat little diagram that explains every internal leap. None knows exactly how its internal processes work. And if we think about it our very own human brains are kind of as a form of biological processor. As biological processors we operate with layers of intuition, memory, and pattern‑making that we don’t consciously understand. 

 We live with a black box every day, and we trust it to run our entire lives. It’s not a reason to panic, but rather just something to understand. So instead of treating AI’s opacity as something frightening it might help to see it as something familiar. ​In the vast and ever-expanding universe of Advanced Generative AI models—the foundation of the preferred method today —it can be tough to keep track. We recently encountered this excellent infographic, "AI TOOLS YOU NEED TO KNOW", which provides a great snapshot of the most-used AI tools.

​What stood out to us is a powerful fact: True Partner Systems utilizes at least eight of the listed AI Assistant LLM Chatbots as trusted daily collaborators. This extensive, hands-on engagement with major players like Gemini, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Perplexity, ChatGPT, Copilot, and Meta AI allows us to provide a unique factual perspective on their performance, and better consulting services utilizing both human, and AI resources.

​Though we aren't as directly familiar witt them all we also factually acknowledge that the remaining tools listed in this infographic, such as Descript, Clippit.AI, etc. are widely recognized as highly excellent, and competitive models in their respective categories. This broad high-quality ecosystem is precisely what makes the various discussions we can have here, and consulting services like ours so timely, and essential. Enjoy the snapshot!

​Clippy's Factual Legacy: Why the Original Microsoft AI Assistant Is the Ancestor of Copilot

​The meme below is not entirely wrong! In the evolution of AI assistants, Microsoft's Clippy (the Office Assistant) is the undisputed Symbolic AI historical ancestor of Microsoft Copilot. Clippy used simpler, rule-based algorithms, and was technically Symbolic AI. Copilot is an Advanced Generative AI Assistant, and uses more sophisticated agentic capabilities. Both were designed to integrate directly into productivity software to anticipate, and aid the user's workflow. This lineage demonstrates that the core idea of an integrated software partner is not new. It has simply evolved from a simple helper to a highly sophisticated advanced generative system capable of being a much better assistant. The only factual difference is the technology not the ambition.
