What happens when you pair the world's most Advanced Generative AI with a
computer that has only 64KB of RAM? You get a masterclass in interoperability.
In the latest short video from our Facebook page we’re showcasing an Advanced
Generative AI Assistant, (ChatGPT), client running live on the legendary
Commodore 64.
How does this actually work? It might seem like magic, but it’s a brilliant
display of how modern AI can adapt to legacy constraints. Since the C64
doesn't natively speak "modern internet," we use a C64 WiFi Modem, (plugged
into the user port), to connect to a BBS, (Bulletin Board System), like
RetroCampus.
The BBS acts as a "translator." It takes the modern heavy API data from the
AI, and strips it down into simple clean PETSCII text that the Commodore 64
can understand. The result? The AI essentially "scales down" its output format
while keeping its full reasoning power intact.
It proves that whether you’re using a smartphone, or a 40-year-old
workstation the logic of a True Partner—AI, or Human—remains consistent. At
True Partner Systems we have a knack for this exact kind of creative
problem-solving. Whether you're looking to integrate cutting-edge Robotics
into your workflow, or need an AI strategy that respects your existing
infrastructure we can help bridge the gap between where you are, and where
technology is going.
