In the latest short video from our YouTube channel in the early history of modern Robotics there was Elektro a 7 foot Electromechanical Robotic marvel from the 1939 New York World's Fair. Built by Westinghouse this 265lb Robot wasn't just a prop. He could walk by voice command, count on his fingers, speak using a built-in record player, and even simulate cigarette smoking. While Elektro relied on rigid physical relays rather than digital code he proved that complex human behaviors could be broken down into a series of logical mechanical rules.
