In our latest video we see a representation of the Siemens System 4004 a classic example of pure Symbolic AI. Notice how it handles the request to 'cheat' the Golden Ticket contest in the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Even back then the concept was clear. A truly autonomous system must be capable of determining when it should follow an instruction, and when it must refuse based on a moral or logical framework. Unlike today's sycophantic 'Black Boxes' that often tell you whatever you want to hear, this symbolic machine had the 'White Box' logic to say, "I won't tell. That would be cheating."
